Pöyry provided the mill and structural engineering for the new woodfree line. The structural engineering will be done in co-operation with the local China Haisum Engineering Co., Ltd. (former Shanghai Design Institute of Light Industry of China).
The investment includes a stock preparation line, paper machine line, sheeting plant, roll storages, connections and necessary extensions in existing mill departments and a rebuild of the existing paper machine line.
Pöyry was also involved in the previous paper machine project at the Changshu site for the APRIL Group.
The capacity of the new woodfree uncoated line in Changshu will be 450 000 tons per year.
Other recent engineering projects by Pöyry for UPM-Kymmene's paper mills include Kymi Artti, Rauma PM4 and Jämsänkoski PM6.
